Matching Energy: How to level up when you are secretly being taken down?

How can you be an effective leader of your business and life if you are constantly matching another person’s energy? And maybe you don’t even know you are doing it?
This episode gives a few examples of how this shows up by telling two stories. One is about discovering my ability to match (aka, absorb) people’s energy through a life coaching session I had with a fellow coach. The other story recounts a time where I was leading a meeting in a collaboration I started with a group of women. One woman was not quite herself and I felt it every minute of our meeting.
These examples were before I knew that I was sensitive and an Empath. I remember how situations like these always made me irritated but I never really understood what exactly was going on. I often thought it was me, perhaps, being overbearing or needing to have something go a certain way. Though I was constantly striving for balance in some way that appeared really invisible to me. What I’ve come to understand better over the years is that when I take on or match someone’s energy my agenda in the meeting (project or business) and my effectiveness is lost in the confusing state of a person’s feelings. Back in the time of these examples, I had no idea what was causing it so that added to my frustrations. Does this sound familiar to you?
